Mäkitalo acts as the legal advisor to Vantaan Energia Oy on legal matters relating to the company’s HWP project for a hazardous waste incineration plan to be built on an alliance model. The project requires thorough knowledge of the energy industry and experience in the implementation of alliance projects as well as contract risk management in the new technology projects.
We are acting as the legal advisor for Vantaan Energia Oy on a project where the company is developing and planning a new hazardous waste incineration plant for heat production and fossil fuel replacement (HWP facility) to be built on an alliance model. The purpose of the project is to strengthen the role of the circular economy in Vantaan Energia’s business.
There are currently no alternative technologies in Finland for the incineration of the waste fractions used, so the plant reduces the need for overseas exports of waste by increasing domestic processing capacity. The planned waste treatment amount is approximately 45,000 tonnes per year, of which approximately 150 GWh of district heating can be produced.
The estimated completion of the plant will take place in 2024.
The HWP project requires thorough knowledge of the energy industry and experience in managing contract risk in the new technology projects.
