Mäkitalo acts as an advisor to Vantaan Energia Oy in all legal matters related to the company’s Contaminated Wood Waste project, where the company is developing and planning a new plant with an alliance model that would use non-recyclable arsenic impregnated wood waste.

In addition to impregnated wood, the plant would also burn other non-recyclable waste, such as surface treated wood and wood, fiber, plastic and textile residual materials. The project is an integral part of Vantaan Energia Oy’s strategy to give up fossil fuels in the Vantaa region by 2026 and strengthen the role of the circular economy in its energy production. Under current plans, the plant could produce about 90 to 180 GWh of heat.

The CWW project requires thorough knowledge of the energy industry and environmental regulation and experience in contracting risk management in the new technology projects.
